About 6 months ago, otools turned me on to a website called helium.com because he knew I have been wanting to work on my writing skills. Shortly after joining the helium.com community, Lunatic and I lost our internet; so I was not able to write very many articles on the site. It is a very cool site and I was upset that I couldn’t go there for a while. Then when I tried to go there last week, I realized that I couldn’t remember my id or my password.
I finally got back in Saturday afternoon. I checked to see if my previous articles had gone up in rank then looked for new topics to write about in order to work on my writing more. One of the topics I found, that seemed very interesting to me was “Grocery Shopping Horror Stories.” Pretty much, you have to write at least 400 words on your worst or most eventful trip to the grocery store.
I knew exactly what I was going to write about as soon as saw the topic. I clicked on the write now icon and got ready to type. After typing for about 20 minutes then making sure my spelling and grammar were correct, i clicked on the publish icon. I then went to the rate articles section to rate some of the other writer’s articles…pretty much reading 2 articles on the same topic, comparing them and rating which is better suited to the topic or better written.
I nearly forgot about the topic I had just written about, but remembered right before I logged out of the site. Articles are rated and then ranked, based on the number of articles written on each topic. There were 59 articles written on the topic “Grocery Store Horror Stories,” and mine was ranked #3. I was surprised but pleased.
I went back to helium.com this afternoon to do some writing and check on the ranking of my articles. I am tickled pink to tell you that my article is now ranked #1! I am soooo proud of myself. Most of the articles I have written have ranked pretty good, with one other at #3; but I have NEVER had one rank #1.
Now I am too excited to sleep, even though I have not been to bed in 40 hours. I think I am high on life right now. LOL
